Additional Suggestions for a Successful Cloud Migration

Creating and implementing Cloud computing can be an advantageous, although stressful experience. To help your company make the switch with ease, I have compiled numerous suggestions that can to help this process go smoothly. The first suggestion and the most obvious is to simply figure out if the Cloud is right for your business. By analyzing what your company does, what it will do it the future, and by calculating all the various resource requirements, you should be able to decide if Cloud computing will be useful (it will be).
Next, the cost of transitioning to Cloud computing needs to be figured into your decisions; this cost includes items such as the price to move applications and train employees. The level of virtualization that you will require is also needed; this includes what works best for what your company does, as well as how much of it you desire. Additionally, by determining the performance criteria you require, you can reduce the number of vendors you use. This will save both time and money. While we are on the topic of vendors, do not be afraid to contact multiple companies and request quotes.
These vendor’s operating expenses can fluctuate down the road, so make sure you do your homework! Deciding which type of Cloud you wish to use is also important; public, hybrid, and private cloud all have their own strengths and weaknesses. However, I would generally recommend going with hybrid and then making the switch to private or public if desired.
