How to Download, Change, and Install Printer Interfaces on Windows 10

·         Step 1- Do Your Homework
The first step when downloading, changing, and installing a printer on Windows 10 is to just figure out which printer you are using, what you wish it to do, and then find the necessary software needed such as disks and drivers
Sometimes, an installation disk can be included with your printer, this should be used to complete the installation, however, if this fails, you will have to go online to download a driver
·         Step 2- Installing a Printer
For this example, we will be installing a USB connected computer
To accomplish this, make sure you are connected to the Internet
Next, turn on the printer and connect it to your computer using the USB cable
Click Start on your computer, then type Devices and hit Enter
You should then be shown the screen below
·         Step 2- Continued
If your computer is on a metered Internet connection, ensure that you scroll down on the option to download the necessary drives over a metered connection. This will look like the image below
·         Step 2- Continued- Troubleshooting Printer drivers
Like any installation, there can be issues that occur when installing your printer. If you run into any of these, simply click Start and then type Devices and Printers, then hit Enter. Next, by right-clicking the Printer and selecting Troubleshoot, the Wizard will start and detect any issues
·         Troubleshooting- Continued
After the Wizard detects any issues, you will be presented the screen below, and should then select, Apply this Fix. Next, wait until Windows resolves the issue and then click Apply this Fix again
·         Troubleshooting- Continued
After any fixes are applied, you must restart your computer to finish installing updates and drivers
·         Step 3- Configuring and Managing Printers in Windows 10
After your computer has restarted, the recently installed printer should be working and will have a proper connection to your computer
You should now see the printer in the Devices menu. To set a printer as Default, launch Settings from the Start Menu and click Devices. Next, Select Printer & Scanners and scroll down. Toggle off the setting When Turned On, the default printer is the last printer used
·         Common Issues and Solutions
There can be other issues that occur during installation such as your computer not recognizing the Printer, faulty drivers, or outdated installation disks
To fix these issues and many like it, you can access the Devices and Printers from the Control Panel, and then Right Click the printer you wish to configure or fix and select one of the options. This will let you further configure and fix your printer
