The long-awaited, Google-funded Augmented Reality (AR) headset, Magic Leap One, is finally available to order. This headset has a wide range of features, functionality, and a whopping $2295 price tag. Within the headset, there are audio and external camera sensors, displays, and an included, external handheld controller. One of the greatest things about the Magic Leap One is the fact that it does not require a PC or even a phone to operate. Many are comparing this headset to Microsoft’s HoloLens. However, the Magic Leap One excels in many areas. Unlike the HoloLens, this headset has a remote and a wider field of view. The Magic Leap one also accomplishes scanning environments and layering holographic images better.

The specs for this device are also quite impressive; it has an NVIDIA® Parker SOC; 2 Denver 2.0 64-bit core + 4 ARM Cortex A57 64-bit core CPU, an NVIDIA Pascal™, 256 CUDA core; Graphics APIs: OpenGL 4.5, Vulkan, OpenGL ES 3.3+ GPU, 8 GB of RAM, and a whopping 128 GB storage capability.  Aimed more for creators such as artists and engineers, the Leap One will also feature support for games in the future. While a phone is not required to function, content created on them will be able to be used.  In the growing AR/VR industry, this headset will provide fierce competition for other popular headsets. Since this is just the first release of this product, only time will tell how it evolves in the future. See Magic Leap One’s website below for more information!
